Green onions, or scallions, don't grow big bulbs like it's siblings the red onion, or even garlic. Instead, the stalks add a spicy kick of flavor to plenty of dishes from burritos to stir-frys.
Chow.com had a great video on how to resprout your green onions. Use the top green stalk for cooking, and plant the white stalk into potting soil, or place it in a glass of water. After about 5 days you'll see a new, baby stalk growing up out of the pot/cup. You can trim the stalks and use them again for cooking! Soon your $1.49 that you spent on a bunch of scallions can be re-used all summer long!
I dont know if you have Kroger stores where you live, but if you do here's a deal I found! They had American Beauty and Ronzoni pastas on sale for 49 cents a box.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, both of those companies have $1 off 2 boxes going around so it made my pasta free =) and they also have Ragu sauce for $1 a jar this week.
If you buy 10 participating items you automatically get $5 off your purchase (the pasta and sauce are participating items). So I got 10 boxes/bags of pasta and 10 jars of sauce for around $5!
